hana roz is a student-nurse, doula, & poet born and raised between the gulf south and southern california and has been based in zhigaagoong -- or so called chicago, il since 2021. she obtained her B.A in religion at beloit college in 2020.
hana has been supporting famlies as a labor and postpartum doula since 2020, providing continuous labor and postpartum support grounded in informed consent, physiological birth, and culturally responsive care. she is a staunch women’s health advocate who comes from a long family line of nurses and healers. she is passionate about raising awareness of the harmful female genital mutilation practices in North Africa as well as the obstetric fistula endemic present throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
hana roz is a former chef and still enjoys cooking highly vibrational meals for loved ones and for community events. hana is an aspiring midwife and is an RN, MSN, & CNL candidate at Rush University Medical Center and expected to graduate in August of 2026. she has completed clinical rotations in med-surg, orthopedics, outpatient psychiatric and substance use recovery at the Haymarket Center in Chicago, labor & delivery, and public health at Steinmetz High School in Belmont-Cragin, where she taught sexual education curriculum to students for 8 weeks. She looks forward to her upcoming critical care and neonatal ICU clinical rotations. hana helps to lead a student-run neonatal research team at Rush University Medical Center, where she works on projects that track safe-sleep education for parents who experience social determinants of health, as well as delayed-cord clamping protocols during delivery.
In her (rare!) free time she enjoys caretaking, singing in her community choir, doing yoga, spending time with her chihuahua, and probably wants to have a coke with you. https://poets.org/poem/having-coke-you

SCOPE OF PRACTICE:
***Please note that I am currently accepting birth & postpartum clients on a case-by-case basis. My availability is limited till Fall of 2026, but if you believe we would be a good fit or you are seeking support, please do not hesitate to contact me.
As a birth doula, I accompany birthing people in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience, in accordance with the birthing person’s needs and boundaries. In 2020, I completed trainings approved by DONA International with the Los Angeles-based organization, Bini Birth.
I draw on my professional training, knowledge, ancestral intuition, and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort, and as needed, communication with the staff to make sure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise before and during the laboring process. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, soothing touch, positioning, and other techniques for comfort. I am independent and self-employed. As your doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or hospital. I will provide evidence-based information so that you and your partner approach the birth well-informed and equipped to make your own decisions that honor your needs and wishes. I will always advocate for your consent in clinical settings but will not make clinical decisions for you.
BIRTH DOULA PACKAGE:
- 24/7 on-call support in the final trimester of your pregnancy, ongoing on-call support throughout the pregnancy.
- [3 prenatal visits, 1hr each visit]
- Attending the birth in person as well as early labor support at home.
- [2 postpartum visits, 1hr each visit]
During postpartum visits we will discuss and process the labor. I can assist with feeding, checking-in, grounding, and overall assistance with adjusting to life with a newborn, with the goal of helping you to transition to a postpartum doula and/or a sustainable postpartum care network and practices.
BIRTH DOULA PACKAGE FEES:
- $600 retainer fee, due when you select me as your doula.
- $600 due within one month after the birth.
POSTPARTUM DOULA PACKAGE:
As your postpartum doula, I will work to help support your transition(s) to parenthood by providing lactation assistance, mental health resources, meal preparation, light housekeeping, tending to the newborn while you rest, provide evidence-based information, help other family members adjust, and continuously advocate and support your wellness and wellbeing.
I offer a discounted rate to birth clients who chose to continue working with me as their postpartum doula.
